Town of Lyons Wildfire Mitigation Rebate

The Town of Lyons wildfire mitigation rebate program is brand new in 2025 and aims to help residents become more wildfire resilient and feel safer in their home and neighborhood. To be eligible for the Town of Lyons program you MUST get a Home Assessment or have had one in a previous year on your current home and for the current owner. This promotes education and gives each homeowner specific items to work on.

You must also apply and complete eligible mitigation for Boulder County and have completed more work than their program covers. Boulder County is helping verify our program so you should submit all proof of work and receipts to them and they will report to us what eligible funds are remaining. You will still need to apply to the Town program to show a desire to receive the refund.

The Town of Lyons program is a first-come, first-served program. Apply today for the Town of Lyons Wildfire Mitigation Rebate Match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does mitigation I already completed count?

While we are happy you already completed work you are unfortunately not able to count it towards the rebate program. We encourage all residents to learn more about Boulder County's applicable rebate areas to see if you can complete more mitigation that could be eligible for the 2025 rebate.

How much money will I receive?

This depends on how much work you do! Each household can receive a maximum of $500 from the Boulder County program and may be eligible to receive up to $500 from the Town of Lyons. You will only receive the maximum of $1000 if you spend $1000 or more on mitigation work and qualify for both programs.

Examples:

You spend $450 on eligible activities, you may receive up to $450 from Boulder County and $0 from Lyons

You spend $650 on eligible activities, you may receive up to $500 from Boulder County and $150 from Lyons

You spend $1100 on eligible activities, you may receive up to $500 from Boulder County and $500 from Lyons

Can I use a Home Assessment from a previous year?

Yes! You are able to use Home Assessments from previous years as long as it is for the home you are completing mitigation on and the assessment is for the current homeowner. The assessments help educate residents and so simply passing an assessment to a new owner will not be allowed if a house sells.

Am I guaranteed to receive the money?

The Lyons program is a first-come, first-served model and runs until the funds are all dispersed. The Town will release periodic updates so that residents know if funds remain. Lyons staff will receive monthly updates from Wildfire Partners for residents of Lyons who have completed their assessment and claimed the Boulder County rebate. Lyons staff will compare this list to a list of those who have submitted the Lyons Rebate Application to determine priority in the program. Priority will be based on date of complete application only.

Boulder County's Program works a differently than Lyons. You should apply for their program prior to completing mitigation work and will receive an email stating your eligibility. This allows Boulder County to set the money aside for your project for a select amount of time.

The Town of Lyons program is a first-come, first-served programs and staff hopes to update remaining funding around the end of each month to keep residents informed.
