- Sustainability Resources: Transportation
Alternative Transportation
Lyons has a significant percentage of the population working in the larger hubs of Boulder and Denver. Additionally, there is a high volume of vehicles that drive through Lyons to visit the Rocky Mountain National Park. On a busy summer day in Lyons the impact of vehicles is notable. This is one of the many reasons looking into alternative transportation solutions is important.
As part of our commitment to sustainability the Town of Lyons offers various services to help residents reduce the need for driving.
EcoPass Program - New! MyRide App
The nECO pass is an annual transit pass for participating groups and provides unlimited usage of RTD services. In the Town of Lyons, it is avaialable for full-time, permanent residents of the Town of Lyons. With support from Boulder County, the Town of Lyons has offered ALL residents access to the EcoPass program to use the RTD bus and light rail services. This includes the bus service around Boulder and Longmont, busses and trains around Denver, busses to Denver, busses to the airport, and new FLEX busses to Fort Collins.
RTD is transitioning to the MyRide App for all passes, including EcoPasses. The older green EcoPass cards have been deactivated system wide. Previous card holders will need to change to the new MyRide system.
Lyons Flyer (replaces the previous Y route)
Boulder County, in partnership with the Town of Lyons, City of Boulder, Regional Transportation District (RTD) and Via Mobility Services has restored commuter transit bus service along US 36 between Lyons and Boulder. The service, branded as the “Lyons Flyer,” replaces the Y route, formerly operated by RTD.
