Tree Limb Drop Off

Drop off your Christmas Tree or any limbs/branches under 6" in diameter on Saturday, January 3, 2026 for the drop off.

Tree & Limb Drop Off

Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
4687 Ute Highway | Public Works Facility

The Lyons Fire Protection District, Boulder County Wildfire Partners and the Town of Lyons are coordinating for a local Christmas Tree (and limb) drop off. We all realize the wind last week took down several branches and limbs, in town and beyond. As long as the limbs/branches are less than 6" in diameter, you may bring them and/or your Christmas Tree to the drop off. Pre-register using event # 435.  There will be a coffee cart providing free coffee for the first 100 drinks.

This is a perfect time to help any neighbors and/or friends if you have a truck and/or trailer and can help coordinate a limb drop off with/for your neighbors.  This event is open to residents of the Town of Lyons, those in our nearby canyons who live in unincorporated Boulder County and those in the Lyons Fire and Hygiene Protection District, with Christmas Trees and limbs less than 6" diameter (this is for the wood chipper that will be on-site).

They would appreciate it if you would please sign up in advance. Use event #435.

Lyons Named a Bee City USA Affiliate

Bee City News for Lyons!

Lyons is buzzing with good news 🐝 We are proud to be named a Bee City USA® affiliate, joining communities nationwide working to protect pollinator habitat. From small gardens to town- wide efforts, residents can play a role in helping pollinators thrive.

Bee City USA is an initiative of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation that encourages communities to create and maintain landscapes rich in native plants and free from harmful insecticides. Pollinators — including bees, butterflies, birds, and other beneficial species — are responsible for the reproduction of nearly 90 percent of the world’s flowering plants and one out of every three bites of food we eat.

The Board’s action followed a presentation in November 2024 by Lyons resident, Tyler Stellern of Simply Bee Conservation, in partnership with the Lyons Environmental Advisory Board (EAB). Through collaboration among town leadership, staff, and community partners, Lyons completed the Bee City USA certification process in just over a year. “By becoming a Bee City, Lyons is committing to real, on-the-ground action, from pollinator-safe practices to community gardens and hands-on events,” said Mayor Hollie Rogin. “Every resident can be part of building a vibrant pollinator corridor that keeps our ecosystems strong.”

Simply Bee Conservation has worked with the EAB since November 2024 to advance pollinator-friendly practices and help shape a connected pollinator corridor throughout town. Colorado is home to more than 1,000 native bee species, many of which can only travel short distances, making neighborhood-scale habitat especially important.

Glass Recycling

Great job with the Glass Recycling

Lyons, did you know that by using the glass recycling dumpster for glass only, together you have diverted a combined 31 US Tons of glass. The glass from the Lyons Recycling Center goes to a sustainable glass packaging company in Windsor, CO to be returned as a bottle on the shelf in as little as 30 days.

This collaboration with the Town of Lyons provides a unique opportunity to create a more circular economy for glass recycling, as O-I and Anheuser-Busch each maintain local operations.  According to  Danielle Brickner, Sustainability Collaboration Specialist at Owens--International. "We are excited to partner with the Town of Lyons as we continue to drive waste reduction, material conservation, energy reduction and job creation. The glass recycled through the program will be processed at O-I's Glass to Glass facility and made into new sustainable glass packaging at the company's Windsor facility in as little as 30 days.”  Thank you Lyons!
