Goat Grazing in Lyons Fire Mitigation Efforts
The Town of Lyons will again partner with Goat Mowers, LLC in 2025 to perform goat grazing for fire mitigation and weed control on town-owned parcels near Lyons Valley Park and the south ledge ditch area. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of July 21 and will focus on creating a 50–60 foot firebreak behind homes east of last year’s project area. The effort will cover approximately 1.5 acres of rugged terrain and is expected to take 7–8 days to complete.

Water Line Work Week of July 21-25, 2025
The Town of Lyons will be working with Badger Daylighting to perform potholing on water service lines throughout the community. Potholing is a process that uses vacuum excavation to safely expose underground utilities. This allows us to visually inspect and identify the material composition of water service lines. Work is scheduled to take place from approximately July 21 through July 25, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Water service is not expected to be interrupted during this process. We appreciate your cooperation as we complete this important infrastructure assessment.

Road Improvements North of Main St
The Town has learned that the contractor will begin mobilization in Lyons beginning July 28, for improvements that include repaving some streets north of Main Street, installing some curb and gutter, and upgrading storm drainage along various streets in Town. These improvements will enhance safety, drainage, and street quality.
Based on the recommendations of the Pavement Management Report, some streets will be repaved, some will have chip seal and some crack seal repairs. Work is expected to last through August. As work begins, the contractor will post “no-parking” signage with no-parking dates a couple days before they begin on each street. This means that your vehicle needs to be off the street and either parked in your driveway or on another street that is not impacted by this work during those posted dates. Please adhere to the no-parking signage or your vehicle will be towed! Keep in mind timing as well, during paving and chip sealing operations your driveway might be in accessible for several hours. This also applies to any other things that might be parked in the street such as campers, RVs, moving pods, landscaping materials, etc. As the work dates for each street get closer, residents on the streets impacted will receive door knockers in the coming weeks. Please watch for posted signs and detours. We appreciate your patience.
