Garbage Kills Bears

Be Bear Aware

The Bears are Back

After months of napping, the bears in Colorado are stretching out and ready to roam. They're trading in their cozy den for some serious snack hunting. Remember they are hungry.

So... do NOT put your trash out the night before. Instead, be sure to keep your garbage in your garage or stored until the morning of your trash pick up. Or use a bear proof trash bin.

Bring in any bird feeders. Bring in pet food. Do not make your yard the hottest bear buffet in town. Be bear smart. Be bear aware. Garbage kills bears.

Bohn Park Skate Park

Upcoming Park Maintenance & Improvements
Beginning Monday, April 28

The Town of Lyons has scheduled park maintenance and improvements during the week of April 28 – May 3, including organic turf care and skatepark repairs. Please see details below:

🌿 Organic Turf Fertilization

From April 28 to May 2, the Town has contracted with SavATree to apply an all-organic turf fertilizer in Sandstone Park, Bohn Park, and LaVern Johnson Park. This is the same service that was completed in 2024, and it is expected to be finished within 4–5 days. The product being applied is Assure 8-0-6 Organic Fertilizer, a granular, synthetic-free blend that supports healthy turf and safe outdoor spaces for all.

🛹 Bohn Skatepark Maintenance

On Tuesday or Wednesday (April 29 or 30), Team Pain — the original skatepark builders — will be in Lyons to perform essential maintenance at Bohn Skatepark. Work is expected to take 2–3 days, weather permitting, and will require temporary closures.

Maintenance tasks include:

  • Joint and crack repairs

  • Concrete pop-out restoration

  • Caulking behind metal coping

  • Touch-up painting and clear coating of coping, curbs, and grind rails

  • Concrete sealing and curing across the entire park

🚧 Please stay off the skatepark surfaces from April 29 through May 3 to allow crews to complete the work safely and efficiently.

Thank you for your support as we continue to invest in our parks and recreation spaces.
