LaVern M. Johnson Park Community Celebration

The Lyons community is invited to a special grand opening of LaVern M. Johnson Park, to celebrate the first restored park since the 2013 flood. The event will take place at the park on Friday, September 9, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Key representatives will speak from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a ribbon cutting. Light refreshments will be provided.

We hope you will join us for this exciting and meaningful event.

Street & Sidewalk Closures Beginning Week of Aug 29

Concrete curb and gutter pouring on Prospect St., Evans St., Park St., and 4th Ave. is underway. 
Please note the following schedule of curb and gutter concrete pouring:

Friday, September 2

• North and south sides of Prospect St.
• West side of 4th Ave.
• South side of Park St.

• Remainder of 4th Ave.
• North side of Park St.
• South side of Evans St.

During this phase, street and front driveway access will be closed to all traffic, including residents, on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Project leads estimate the closures to last +/- two weeks per frontage. 

If you reside within this area, please utilize adjacent alley space as much as possible. If you are unable to access alley space, please contact Project Manager, Joe Kubala by email or at 303-823-6622, ext. 42, to develop a temporary parking plan.

Main St. Streetscape

Railroad Ave. & Three-way Intersect Closure

Railroad Ave., from 2nd to 3rd, and the Railroad Ave. / Evans St. / 2nd Ave. three-way intersect, off US-36, will be closed to traffic through Friday, September 2, while curb and gutter concrete is poured along the south side of East Main St. 
The three-way intersection will be reopened by end of day Friday, and remain open through the holiday weekend.

Ecology Board Hosts Movie: "Fresh"

September 9

The Town of Lyons Ecology Advisory Board will host a movie Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., at Stonebridge Farm, 5169 Ute Highway, east of the US-66/ US-36 intersection.
The movie, "Fresh" explores agricultural issues including loss of biodiversity, soil depletion, and displacement from farming communities. “Fresh” offers new solutions through organic farming that respect land, soil, farmers, wildlife and consumers alike.

The event is free and open to the public.

• 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sep. 6 through Friday, Sept. 9 Single lane closure on US 34 between mile points 79.5 and 80; traffic open in both directions but may be controlled by flaggers
• 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sep. 6 through Friday, Sept. 9 Single lane open on US 34 between mile points 78 - 79; traffic controlled by flaggers; intermittent 10 minute full closures
• Saturday, Sep 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11 No Traffic Impacts

Button Rock Spillway Bridge Construction Begins in September

On September 6, construction will begin on a new bridge that will restore access across the Button Rock Dam Spillway, which was destroyed in the September 2013 flooding.
