Bohn Park Stormwater Improvements

2nd Ave Street Closure
Sept 30 and Oct 1

As work progresses along 2nd Ave (near Bohn Park and the Recycling Center), the contractor plans on closing 2nd Ave on Thursday morning, Sept 30 and opening it back up end of day Friday, October 1

This project entails enlarging the storm detention ponds in Bohn Park and installing new larger storm drain between the ponds as well as their connection to the storm drain system on 2nd Avenue.  The current schedule begins this week and is scheduled to be complete by the end of October.

Traffic Impacts – This week, 2nd Avenue will be closed on Thursday, Sep 30 and Friday, Oct 1.

Construction equipment will continue to cross 2nd Ave to transport materials from the staging area to the detention pond construction area.  Parking will still be made available in the Wastewater Treatment Plant parking area if needed.

This is a storm water project to continue to build Lyons' resiliency.

Dogs, Schools and Leashes

Lyons Schools, Parking and Dogs

A friendly reminder from the our local Middle/Senior High School

The Lyons Middle/Senior High School reminds residents (and visitors) that the school property is closed during school hours for safety reasons.  If you are visiting the school to speak with staff or picking up a student please use the visitor parking in front of the school.

If you are headed to the dog park or trails nearby, please park on the road and do NOT park at the school. There is a path on the north side of the school property that will take dog walkers right over to the dog park. Please remember that dogs must be leashed in the Town of Lyons, including the walk to the dog park.

The school also requests that you NOT let your dog on the practice field in front of the dog park. Kids of all ages use that field for soccer, football practice, baseball and more. There have been complaints of dogs using the fields for their daily business. This field is not the dog park. And, ew, gross... no student athlete should have to miss their winning goal while avoiding a stash of dog poo. Thank you!
