2nd Ave Bridge Construction

Please No peds! No golf carts! No bikes!

As a friendly reminder, the 2nd Avenue Bridge site is an active construction area and dangerous for pedestrians, bikes and golf carts. For your safety, please stay out of the area, those excavators are BIG! And it can be hard for them to see you.
The bridge will be demolished and removed next week, but in the meantime, please use Black Bear Hole and stay out of the construction area! Thank you.

Community Tree

Lavern M Johnson Park

The bright glow of the holidays has a different feel this year. Add your personal touch at the Community Tree in Lavern Johnson Park.

Community Tree
Residents are invited to add an ornament to a Community Tree in LaVern Johnson Park. On its own, an ornament has few uses, but hung on an illuminated tree with an array of other unique ornaments, it helps form a beautiful and interesting work of art.

To participate, bring an ornament to LaVern Johnson Park, and hang on one of the three designated Community Trees. The trees are located along the south side of the ice rink, and will have signs identifying each of the trees.

Unfortunately, the Town will not be able to return ornaments at the end of the season, so please make sure it's one you are willing to up. Please ensure ornaments can be hung securely, and sturdy enough to withstand any variation of weather.

The Community Tree will be live from December 5 through the end of the year.

Santa Virtual Visits

Santa is also doing one-on-one visits from the North Pole!
Sign up for a five- or ten-minute online visit with Santa. Slots are available from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on December 12, and are free of cost! But sign up quickly to reserve your spot!

4th Ave Pedestrian Bridge

Safe Route to School

In 2018, the Town of Lyons applied for and was awarded a $500,000 Safe Route to School Grant in 2019 to connect Lyons Elementary School and Lyons Middle/Senior High School via 4th Ave and a pedestrian bridge over the N St Vrain Creek. Final funding for the project has been completed in the past several months and an RFP for a firm to begin design of the route and the bridge was issued last month. Stay tuned for updates in the next few months.

Free Mobile COVID Testing in Lyons

COVID Testing Sites

200 2nd Ave Lyons | Fridays, 1:30pm - 3pm

Boulder County Public Health, in partnership with Boulder Community Health and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment will provide free COVID testing in Lyons on Fridays, from 1:30 pm - 3 pm.

No appointment is needed, and individuals do not need to have COVID-19 symptoms to be tested. Individuals who are 65 years old or older or are essential workers are encouraged to attend.

Location: Parking lot of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 200 2nd Ave, Lyons
Hours: 1:30 – 3 p.m. every Friday through the end of the year, weather permitting and excluding holidays.
Requirement: Mask must be worn
Note: The testing will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25

Free Testing at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont
The Boulder County free testing site is now at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont . Testing is available for anyone who would like to be tested, and individuals do not have to have symptoms to be tested.

Location: Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Rd, Longmont.
Hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., 7 days per week.

Preventing Frozen Pipes

As we move into the winter months and cooler temperatures, make sure to keep an eye on your water pipes and plumbing. Frozen pipes that break or burst can cause expensive water damage. Even a small tear in a water pipe can pour hundreds of gallons of water each minute into your home or residence. Here are just a few tips to prevent frozen pipes.

Disconnect all outside hoses
Insulate pipes that are located in cold, drafty places inside
Use heat tape if necessary
Keep the heat in your home at a minimum of 55 degrees F.
